Stainless Steel Balustrading

The Batemans Bay Yachting Co. offers a service for homeowners, builders and shop fitters
for the use of stainless steel wire and rigging components. While these are more commonly
found on yachts, they provide maintenance free and very cost effective systems for balustrading,
shade structures and shop fittings.

Uninterrupted views
Where a bright modern balustrade is required, the aesthetics of stainless steel cannot be overlooked
Used in both internal and external applications, our easily installed cable systems allow unimpaired
views from balconies, walkways, staircases and platforms, suggesting a relaxing nautical feel to your
home.

Mobile rigging service
The Batemans Bay Yachting Co. provides a complete mobile rigging service;
where we can measure, make up and install your cable system on site.
We also offer a DIY service - where we make up the cables for you to install.
BBYC Balustrading System
On one end is a set terminal and on the other end is an adjustable rigging screw which allows the wire to be tightened to US Military Specifications. This leaves a clean, neat finish with no sharp ends of wire showing.
Australian Regulations specify that balustrading needs to be 1 metre high with horizontal gaps of no more than 125mm. Most balustrading systems have 7 strands of 5/32" stainless steel wire. If you have a top rail of another material eg. wood then 6 strands of wire are generally sufficient.
To order simply measure between the supporting uprights of your balcony, fill in the order form and enclose your cheque or credit card details. We will post your balustrading system to you as soon as your cheque has cleared. The stainless steel wire, cut to length, and fittings will be all ready to simply attach to your uprights.

How to Cost your balustrade

For one x 2 metre long section with 7 strands the following table shows how to cost for DIY installation. Each strand has 2 terminals, 2 fittings to attach to the uprights of your verandah and a length of wire.
