Sailing School

Learn to sail on the beautiful waters off Batemans Bay in an uncluttered, scenic and pollution free environment. Your friendly instructor Peter Walsh is an Yachting Australia Qualified yachtmaster and Instructor and Waterways Coxswain. Batemans Bay Sailing Club Champions in inshore and offshore events. They competed in JOG (Junior Offshore Group ) National and State Titles coming 3rd in each event and winning their group in the AKAI Cup.

BBYC01. Introductory Practise Sail....$66.00 Enjoy a 3 hour introduction to sailing with no further obligation ... or choose a course that suits your experience. For those continuing on from the practice sail, its cost becomes your full deposit on the next course.

CERTIFICATE COURSES

BBYC02. Learn To Sail -Introductory Certificate Course….$283.00
This course is 2 x 4 hour lessons designed for the beginner and covers:
Safety & Safety equipment, Boat handling, Ropework, Deckwork, Sail trim, Helming,
Anchors & anchoring. (Includes course notes and AYF Logbook)

BBYC03. Competent Crew Course....$446.00 4 x 4 Hour lessons. 
This course reinforces the skills learnt in the introductory course and continues on to
more advanced procedures such as: Navigation, Chart work, Pilotage, Tides and  weather,
Engine maintenance, Distress signals, Radio, Emergencies.

BBYC04. Inshore Skipper Course....$528.00 4 x 4 hour lessons plus 4 hour night sail.
This practical course prepares you for the responsibilities of being a skipper and includes:
Preparation for sailing, Boat handling techniques under sail and power, Navigation, Tides,
Chartwork, Passage planning. (Includes course notes and 4 hour night sail)

BBYC05. Seamanship - (Theory and Practical)....$238.00  
4 x 3 hour lessons. Course covers: Radio Procedure, First Aid afloat, Ropework, Meteorology, 
Anchoring and Anchors, International regulations for the prevention of collisions at sea.

6 x 3 hour lessons. Course covers aspects such as: Chart Work, Variation and Deviation,
Taking and plotting fixes, Compass work, Light characteristics, Tides, Leeway and Passage

Same syllabus as BBYC09 YA Yachtmaster Course but is designed for candidates who don't 
have the required sea time or the need to sit the YA Yachtmaster examination.
